Spin and Shape: Pottery on the Wheel
Service Description
Experience the excitement of throwing clay on the potter’s wheel in this hands-on, 4 hour workshop. Participants will learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing while creating a mini series of functional pottery pieces. You will be guided through the essential steps of working on the wheel, including centering clay, pulling up walls, and shaping forms such as bowls and cups. As you gain confidence with the wheel, you’ll have the opportunity to refine your favourite pieces and explore ways to personalize them. The workshop will also introduce decorative techniques using slip to add pattern, movement, and texture to the surface of your pottery. Finally, participants will have the option to attach a handle to transform a piece into a mug or create a comfy soup bowl. By the end of the session, each participant will select 2–3 favourite pieces to keep. These pieces will be finished, glazed, and fired for you after the workshop.
Cancellation Policy
To cancel your workshop or event booking, please contact us as soon as possible. If you cancel at least 2 weeks prior to the event, you will receive a refund minus a $25 administrative fee. No refunds will be provided if cancelled less than 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the event. If for whatever reason, St. Marys Creative Retreat cancels a workshop or event, you will be fully refunded the cost of your ticket.
